Daughter of Danish architect and designer Verner Panton (1926-1998) pioneered the use of plastic, the Panton chair born in Copenhagen in 1960. It’s a stackable piece with cantilevered seat, held in rigid polyurethane foam coating and from the late nineties also manufactured in polypropylene stained matte finish material used in the «junior Panton» version to devise for children.
It measures 50cm wide, 60cm and 83cm line height and today is available in six colors. The chair is not mass-produced until 1967, when the technology needed to produce it efficiently and with a smaller initial cost was developed. The Swiss company Vitra performs its first product and is self-created, which became the design of Verner Panton’s most famous and mass production.
With one piece can recreate myriad styles. White panton combined with classic aesthetic furniture, wood or white-black colors, creates a refined and elegant environment that mixes the modern with the traditional. If we want a more cosmopolitan style or casual panton chairs can mix several different colors. They are perfect for a touch of color to your kitchen or dining room and children’s bedrooms create a cheerful and fun space.
There is a proof to check that this is not an imitation, each chair is engraved logo vitra under the seat and the inscription «Verner Panton» in the back of the foot, being heavier than the original imitations.
The Panton, unusual at the time, chair marked a milestone by becoming the first chair made entirely of plastic in one piece through a process of injection molding, was «Baydur» first molded (solid foam) and then of «Luran S» injected.
